Hi everyone,<\/p>\n

It\u2019s barely the end of Summer and are we already<\/em> thinking about Christmas? When I was Head of Music, by the start of the September term I was already planning for the school Christmas production!<\/p>\n

At CMM we have SIX<\/strong> Christmas Musicals, all with different themes and expressions.\u00a0 What not consider getting a choir together or using an existing one to present one of these works?\u00a0 It\u2019s a good opportunity to provide material that is true to the Biblical story, whether for Advent, Christmas or Epiphany.

STARGAZERS<\/strong> \u2013 my first musical\/cantata for Christmas, (really Epiphany but lots do with Christmas.) It has 11 songs, with simple harmony, and a bonus carol Angels from the realms of glory<\/em> – https:\/\/www.cmm.org.uk\/shop\/index.php?id=sta<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

AWAY IN A MANGER<\/strong> \u2013 originally written for my daughter Sally\u2019s primary school \u2013 mostly unison voices with older soloist \u2013 9 songs \u2013 20-30 mins long \u2013 suggestions for Nativity drama – https:\/\/www.cmm.org.uk\/shop\/index.php?id=aiam<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n

SIMEON<\/strong> \u2013 Christmas story told by the old man Simeon \u2013 10 songs \u2013 SATB parts, easily adapted – covers Advent to Epiphany \u2013 about 45 mins long – https:\/\/www.cmm.org.uk\/shop\/index.php?id=sim<\/a><\/p>\n

THE INN CROWD<\/strong> \u2013 straight forward \u201cpanto-like\u201d telling of the Christmas story by the Inn-Keeper and Wife (the recording features Devon Brown and Katie Leaver) \u2013 SATB, with new settings of various carols including Infant Holy<\/em>, Brightest and Best<\/em>, etc – https:\/\/www.cmm.org.uk\/shop\/index.php?id=tic<\/a><\/p>\n

THREE WISE CAMELS<\/strong> \u2013 our latest! \u2013 obvious what it\u2019s about! \u2013  8 songs, including new tune for We Three Kings<\/em>, The King of Love<\/em> \u2013 a lot of fun, but with a serious message \u2013 I\u2019m very thrilled with this musical, written mostly during \u201clockdown\u201d – https:\/\/www.cmm.org.uk\/shop\/index.php?id=twc<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n

I\u2019m so convinced of the value of singing together, and the opportunity for \u201cad hoc\u201d or existing community\/church choirs to get folk involved in \u201cspreading the word\u201d!  My former Vicar Peter Lawrence once said: \u201cCome and join the choir \u2013 you don\u2019t have to be able to sing to be in one of Roger\u2019s musicals.\u201d I take that as a compliment!
They are for all abilities, singers, instrumentalists and others!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
